According To Herodotus . visited Babylon about the middle of V century BC, the city stretched along both banks of the Euphrates as a huge quadrangle. Two rows of the Babylonian wall had a length of about 90 kilometers.
In the early 1900’s the German expedition of archaeologist Robert Koldewey discovered a third belt of the Babylonian wall. Workers immediately reported the find to the owner who told antiquary, naturalist and philologist Edward Lugo.
