The Cathedral of the twentieth century
Not one among several, and the only one designed by the architect such as built in évry (Evry), 30 km South from Paris.
Hearing about it was in the year of completion of construction, 1995. Then in June I went to the place to “see” with Evry Hiking in the cathedrals, which I then took.
Because Paris has its “Golden ring” – the cathedrals, the Gothic, separated from the capital of 80-150 km, the main features of repeating of Notre Dame. Feature its Gothic – the lack of the spires on the towers; they have the “perfect Gothic Cathedral” (the word Viole-Le-Duc) – Chartres. In Saint-Denis, however, were the spires, until one of them broke the zipper in the early 19th century.

The mysteries of the island of Malta. Who first settled on the island? Some experts say that the CRO-magnons, other – Atlanta. However, no clear trace of the latter still not found. But the island is so little studied that version of the Atlantians are not excluded. It is known that the island is often passed from hands in hands. The Greek capital of the island was the city, which is now called Mdina. If you come down from its fortress walls to the valley, where you can see the ruins of the cyclopean temples. One of the buildings of the Gothic style
Initially the term “Gothic” refers only to the architecture. In a few words to describe this direction as eerily majestic construction.
First Gothic style in architecture was established in France in the 12th century, and later spread to all European space. A little later the Gothic style penetrated in the East, and stayed there for a very long time by purchasing an original national features. Of great interest are the Gothic buildings of Spain, England, Czech Republic and France. Particularly original style developed in Italy, where he entered with great difficulty and the result was separate “Italian Gothic”.
This Gothic style at its core, is based on the heritage of Roman culture, and mostly for Burgundian architecture. However Gothic initially rejected the main feature of the Romanesque style – massive walls, towers, small Windows-slits and semi-circular arches. Instead of a Lancet arch with a long narrow top, used a more ornate facade of buildings, widely used the stained-glass Windows and other architectural innovations. Continue reading
