The legacy of ancient Greek architecture is the basis for all further development of world architecture and related monumental art. The reasons for this sustained impact of Greek architecture lie in its objective qualities: simplicity, truthfulness, clarity of the compositions, the harmoniousness and proportionality of total and forms of all parts, in plasticity organic connection of architecture and sculpture, in close unity of the architectural and aesthetic and structural-tectonic elements sooruzheniy. Ancient Greek architecture featured a full line of forms and their design bases, were a whole. Basic design — stone blocks of which the walls were laid. Archaeologists excavating at Teotihuacan, at last, reached the center of the tallest pyramids in Mexico and discovered the ruins of an ancient ceremonial sacrifice, which was conducted before the construction of the Pyramid of the Sun.
Offerings were placed at the base of the pyramid, and chief among them was elaborately carved and detailed and the green mask of serpentine, which might serve, most likely, a portrait. Also among the findings was eleven dedicated to the rain God Tlaloc ceremonial pots from clay. Even found the bones of an eagle, which fed the rabbits, and also not yet identified the remains of felids and canids.
At the base of the pyramid was found also 7 burials of people, a few of which found the children’s remains.
In their excavations, archaeologists used the old tunnel of the pyramid, which was to bypass the centre of the pyramid and was excavated by researchers in the 30-ies of the twentieth century. Continue reading
In 20-ies of the XIX century, a rich landowner and landowner William Danby was built Druid temple . The building is really impressive, and in the imagination of the visitor invokes the image of a huge megalithic structure, in its mystery and size equal to Stonehenge. Each employee engaged on the construction of Danby was paid one shilling a day, which at the time was quite a good wage. The building was intended for some old drawings and was made in the statement of the landlord an exact copy of the once existing temple of the druids.
